Spending more than 30 years in the game as a player and a coach, I participated at just about every level, worked with all types of people and groups, and served on myriad league boards.&nbsp;Lacrosse was everything to me.&nbsp;&nbsp;My brain was constantly fixated on man-up plays. Practice drills. What the competition was doing right this second. What color our gear was. I thought about the game, and how to get an edge, 24/7. If I’m being honest, the dynamics didn’t change much once I became an adult and tried to pursue work activities outside the game.&nbsp;Lacrosse defined my existence … until one day, when my life took an abrupt pivot. My marriage had come to a painful end. (I would only learn later that it was for the best – she never went to any of the games, anyway).&nbsp;But I was at a point at which my ties to the game that had made me also need … a trial separation. My dedication to my sport and my community had taken a toll on my finances. This combined with the process of divorce had left me broken financially and emotionally.&nbsp; I had to start over. I founded a new business outside the game in a new country. I quickly formed new relationships. I made a new home.&nbsp;&nbsp;My new business venture quickly took off. My life had turned around. I made the INC 5000 list of top entrepreneurs, and my new business got sold for an amount that made my family and I financially comfortable for the rest of my life.I had lost everything and experienced the burning pain that comes with that loss. But I overcame that adversity. And I somehow rose above it.&nbsp;&nbsp;I credit what I learned from the game for much of what I was able to accomplish and I wanted to give back to the sport that gave me all the tools I needed to be successful.This is when I connected with my brother who not only was involved in sports and coaching&nbsp; himself but also had kids involved at every level. After much discussion we asked ourselves, what problems can we solve?&nbsp; How can we be of service to those trying to improve their community via sports?The first thing we wanted to accomplish was create a clear,&nbsp; well organized place for coaches to gather information to make running a team easier.&nbsp; &nbsp; We wanted to create a platform that gives access to the best ideas, but one in which participants feel encouraged to share their own.If a coach has an innovative game plan or concept they want to share, we want to compensate them. If a coach has a novel business idea or advice that is relevant to the coaching community, we want to support them.In this new chapter of my life, with my brother by my side, our mission is clear. We want to support the unsung heroes of the sports community, the people who are in this for all the right reasons, so they can shine.
